After completing a series of educational and recreational camps, mobile free clinics, and home visits—as well as the subsequent wrap-up work—the Taipei Medical University Feng-Hsing Social Medical Service and Medical Knowledge Outreach Team concluded its mission on August 12 and returned safely to Taiwan's main island aboard the Penghu Ferry, carrying with them the warmth and hospitality of Penghu's residents. The team said it would remain true to its commitment to serving local communities as it looks ahead to another year of service.
The TMU Feng-Hsing Medical Service Team is now in its 16th year of serving communities in Penghu. The support and encouragement it receives from various sectors have been a vital source of motivation for the team to continue its annual service.
The team extends its special thanks to Mikobeauté International Co., Ltd., the Taipei Apple Social Welfare Charity Foundation, Penghu County Taijia Social Welfare Charity Foundation, Gan-En Sheng-Ren Social Welfare Charity Foundation, Liu Luo-Liu Cultural and Educational Foundation, Yong Chang Hsing Social Welfare Charity Foundation, Yong Rui Charity Foundation, New Taipei City Private Hui Rong Social Welfare Charity Foundation, Yi Ting Social Welfare Charity Foundation, New Taipei City Private Chin Pao San Social Welfare Charity Foundation, Taipei An Ho Social Welfare Charity Foundation, Taipei Footprint Social Welfare Charity Foundation, En Ci Social Welfare Foundation, Fengshan Buddhist Lotus Society, and World-Link Logistics Cultural and Educational Foundation for their generous financial support.
The team also thanks the Penghu Ferry and UNI Air for ensuring safe transportation to and from Penghu, as well as all participating organizations for their care and support throughout the program.
This year's service program included a Medical Studies Camp and a Medical Experience Camp held at Magong Elementary School, Zhongxing Elementary School, Xixi Elementary School, Zhongzheng Elementary School, and National Magong High School, recording a total of 347 attendances. Over the course of the three-day camp program, the team introduced professional medical knowledge to elementary and high school students across Penghu.
The mobile free clinics served 589 attendances across Magong City and the four townships of Huxi, Xiyu, Baisha, and Wang'an. The team also traveled to the outlying communities of Hujing, Niaoyu, Jiangjun, Xi'an, and Shui'an. Equipped with comprehensive medical equipment, the multidisciplinary team brought together physicians, dentists, traditional Chinese medicine practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and dietitians, helping residents throughout Penghu gain access to the healthcare resources provided by the TMU Feng-Hsing Medical Service Team.
In addition, the TMU Feng-Hsing Medical Service Team launched its Health Awareness Initiative this year. On August 5, team members visited the Huimin Home-Based Long-Term Care Institution affiliated with the Camillian Medical Foundation, the Penghu Senior Citizens' Home of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Penghu County Slow-Flying Angels Service Association, and the Four Seasons Residential Long-Term Care Institution, with the activities recording a total of 130 attendances.
Through guided exercises and engaging health education activity stations, the team spent several hours interacting with residents and sharing practical medical knowledge. These activities enabled older adults with limited mobility to gain access to valuable health information, companionship, and care.
