The “2025 CTBC Taipei 101 Charity Vertical Marathon” will officially take place on May 3, with online registration opening at 12:00 PM on March 27. A press conference was held on March 26 to announce the event.

Ms. Yung-Chieh Chia, Chairperson of Taipei 101, attended the event alongside Ms. Li-Wen Chu, President of Taipei 101; Ms. Shu-Hui Yang, Head of Personal Banking at CTBC Bank; Mr. Te-Feng Chen, Head of Payment Business; Mr. Chang-Ming Tsai, Senior Vice President of Nan Ya Plastics; and charity ambassador Mr. Szu-Chi Chou, jointly unveiling the event and inviting participants to take on the ultimate challenge.

The race features a climb of 91 floors, 2,046 steps, and a vertical ascent of 390 meters, offering a unique and demanding experience.

The race is divided into four categories—Elite, Self-Challenge, Corporate Charity, and Team—with a total of 5,200 participant slots available.
Under the theme “TEAM UP: Rise for Love,” the event symbolizes the power of collective effort, bringing people together to spread care and put charitable action into practice.

Ms. Yung-Chieh Chia, Chairperson of Taipei 101, stated, “At Taipei 101, we are committed to continuous innovation and the pursuit of excellence. This year, we are further integrating charitable initiatives into the event, inviting more participants to join us.”
On March 25, Ms. Chia personally took on the vertical marathon challenge, completing the course in 26 minutes and 36 seconds, and shared that maintaining proper breathing rhythm is key to performance.

The “2025 CTBC Taipei 101 Charity Vertical Marathon” marks the seventh consecutive year of collaboration with its title sponsor, CTBC Bank.
Participants in the Self-Challenge category can enjoy a 10% registration fee discount when registering with a CTBC Bank credit card. In addition, continuing its long-standing commitment to social responsibility, the event will allocate 5% of cardholder registration fees to the CTBC Charity Foundation.

Nan Ya Plastics also returns as an official partner this year, providing runners with performance race apparel made from 100% recycled materials. Compared to conventional race apparel, this reduces carbon emissions by approximately 70%, reinforcing the event’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

This year, Taipei 101 has expanded the spirit of the event from personal challenge to meaningful social impact. A total of 15% of all registration fee revenue—including the 5% contributed from CTBC Bank cardholder registrations—will be donated to four charitable partners: the Baseball Talent Development Foundation, Teach For Taiwan (TFT), World Vision Taiwan, and the CTBC Charity Foundation. Simply by registering, every participant contributes to a greater cause.

Taipei 101 has long been committed to supporting social initiatives through concrete actions. This year, the event further invites corporate participation through the introduction of a Corporate Charity category. Each participating team will donate NTD 400,000 to designated charitable organizations, and in return receive group entry slots (15–20 participants) along with promotional exposure through Taipei 101’s iconic façade lighting display. This initiative aims to elevate corporate social responsibility from individual efforts to collective industry impact, bringing together leading enterprises to maximize positive influence.

Among the charity partners, the Baseball Talent Development Foundation has long been dedicated to grassroots baseball development in Taiwan, offering both athletic and academic scholarships to encourage well-rounded growth among young players. Its founder, Mr. Szu-Chi Chou, who also serves as the event’s charity ambassador, remarked, “We are encouraged to see corporations taking the lead in supporting social causes. Together with Taipei 101, we will stand as a strong pillar for the next generation.”

The official promotional video premiered at the press conference, featuring event ambassador Ms. Yung-Chieh Chia and charity ambassador Mr. Chou. Leveraging their influence, the campaign highlights both the competitive and charitable aspects of the event. In the video, Ms. Chia energetically invites participants to challenge themselves and break the current record of 10 minutes and 29 seconds.

Following the race, an After Party will be held at the Taipei 101 Water Plaza. Finishers can enjoy a variety of local and international food, including burgers, wraps, and Taiwanese sausages, along with refreshments such as Taiwan Beer and Red Bull. A medal engraving booth will also be available on-site, where participants can personalize their medals for a fee of NTD 100, creating a lasting memory of the event.
